The Mayor's word: Creteil will have its mosque. This important project that the UAMC have introduced barely one year ago has successfully passed several crucial steps and we are glad for that. The project’s architecture is up to our expectations. It is a compromise between respected traditions and a coped modernity and will completely integrate itself into our city’s landscape. Through its giving a prestigious stance and reuniting its followers’ characteristics, its open public spaces such as the library or the cafeteria, this mosque will also be a place for exchanges, conviviality and a social cohesion factor. The first drawings were submitted to the whole of the district t committees; public debates contributed to make this project a better known one and dissipate all prejudices, misunderstandings and concerns. This consultation allowed the reaching of a consensus that was made necessary on the necessity of such building as well as on the architects’ propositions.
